METALLART takes the prize in the Sculpture category

‘The impressive effect of this staircase sculpture right in the centre of an exclusive living environment reflects innovative thinking on the part of the designer. Above all, the cladding of the underside and the liquid metal coating applied on site create a very striking appearance.’

This summarising comment from the jury of the German specialist portal Treppen.de on the decision in the ‘Sculpture’ competition category sums up what characterises our winning staircase: Innovative thinking for impressive design. With its massive and spacious look, the stringer staircase with parapet-high flat steel stringers on both sides and the smooth underside cladding makes a statement for steel as a construction material and its design possibilities.

It was created in cooperation with AR Architektur for a private villa in Günzburg and goes far beyond its function of connecting two living levels. Despite its dimensions and mass, the staircase impresses with its homogeneity and sculptural dynamism. The seamless surface finish of liquid metal, with which the staircase body was refined on site, requires impeccable craftsmanship in production and assembly.
