Striking steel balustrade for concrete stairs | AchtBerlin
2022, Berlin
A new home for forward-thinking and creative minds. Stunning steel balustrades in a graphite-black finish provide a unique feature for the event location's staircase.
Inspiring location in Berlin
Located in the heart of the capital, between the vibrant Mitte district and charming Prenzlauer Berg, the AchtBerlin is a fascinating new event centre with exceptional architecture. This historic building from the early 20th century, which was once used for a multitude of purposes, presents itself after extensive restoration and expansion with exciting spaces for creative future-makers. The building ensemble combines modern office space, innovative co-working spaces, conference rooms, a kitchen, bar and a cinema equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Each room tells its own story and provides the perfect backdrop for creative work and unique events.
Strong contrast with eye-catching steel balustrade
Future and past are combined on five floors in flexibly combinable spaces and emphasised by innovative architecture. Concrete dominates the design concept and also forms the basis of the oval staircase construction running between the new building and the middle transverse building.
METALLART created contrasting flat-steel elements in a graphite black finish for the multi-flight staircase. The elliptically curved steel balustrade along the stairs and the steel railings at the slab edges create a symbiosis of design and material with a strong character. The handrail, also made of steel, along the horizontal or ascending steel balustrades respectively has both functional and aesthetic effects and completes the eye-catching design of the flat steel elements.
